If Money Wasn’t a Problem

For three years I dedicated my life to a routine of studying.

For three years I never really thought about the day when it would all come to an end and now that I have finished it, my life, my career and my future begins. The late Alan Watts, a British philosopher asks the question of what would you do with your life if money was no object. Coming out of University I have received an overwhelming amount of free time which will give me time to regather the past three years and really get to know who I am. However Watt’s lecture has prompted me to think, or to rethink what would I do if money wasn’t an object? My current motives for money are to: buy a house, to be financially secure, to be prepared for a family and to be able to provide for them without a doubt. Take this away and you are left with an IT buff, with a tendency to be nerdy, someone who loves to fish and is passionate about God. I have an urge to envision, to inspire and to make a difference and impact the world. I want to innovate, be innovative and promote success through all that I do and to the people around me. I wish to spread happiness and express life through my actions. Create opportunity through my visions, dreams and inspire those around me to aspire further in their own lives. If there was no drive to create money I wouldn’t lack the drive to do these aspirations.

“If you say that money is the most important thing, you’ll spend your life completely wasting your time: You’ll be doing things you don’t like doing in order to go on living, that is, in order to go on doing things you don’t like doing — which is stupid!” – Alan Watts

So now that I have realigned my views, in the next coming months I need to focus on creating these aspirations into being and create a dream come true. Likewise, those who have lots of money think it will find happiness… however, if all you are doing is striving for something which is taking you away from your passion, well then you will be living life trying to fill it with waste. Strip the money away and do what you want to do, like actually do it and you’ll find that the happiness is there, the motivation is there and the drive will be refuelled into something other than a cog in a big machine.

So I have nine months to change the world. (In no particular order)

  • Blog/Write a book
  • Develop Business Opportunities
  • Fish – Get Boat Licence
  • Innovate/Dream
  • Grow (Physically/Spiritually)
  • Get Fit and Healthy

Double Choc Chip Bubble Gum Muffins

It’s another morning filled with the invasion of an illuminating rosé fog, as the sun rises between the trees. The air is fresh, so fresh you can feel the thickness of the cold air breach through your nostrils. The stirring fire place next-door emits a dark cloud into the fog. As it leaves the chimney it becomes entangled into the thickness of the foggy dew. Like the bond between water and oil this smoggy fog of blackened smoke becomes trapped amongst the fluffiness of cold pre-winter morning.

As I travel down the 4km stretch I repeatedly double tap my iPod Nano, shuffling from one song to the next. I listen to the beginning and introductions of each song; each one having a story of its own! Each one having a memory embedded within, they reflect the past; days, months and years. Each song symbolizing its own reputation of its own power and hold over my life… driving a 5 speed manual down the road suddenly becomes something of simplicity. Each shuffle is a flash, each beat is a time jump and each alliance of lyrics is a metaphor for my own realities.

It’s funny as I was just listening to one of the songs which influenced my early blogging days! And my playlist was crafted from my blogs and is titled as “Blog”. So now that I think of it each song has had a memory tied to its roots… obviously some better than others and some quite challenging but they are all bounded by memories which have helped make me who I am today. The best part is, I can now skip these songs and move on to something more my style or mood.

Speaking of memories, as per request for a mention, the following paragraph is all about Ducky.

One thing you realise when growing up is who your true friends really are and yes I know times get tough and know times get busy, but one thing that always remains with a true friend are the memories, the moments and all the happy times, but most of all is; even if you don’t see each other for however long it is.. You can always pick up from where you left off, as if it was just another day without common communication. So with that said Ducky is most defiantly one of those friends – who unfortunately I don’t see enough but when I do, there is always the swapping of smiles, hugs and chats, which will always last for ever! Miss ya Kiddo!

Oh and I made these tonight!

Simplicity is found in Clouds…

When I first heard of Dropbox, clouds are the last thing I expected to be mentioned. However in time, I have grown to admire Dropbox for its convenience for the cloud. Let me explain:

Think of all those common items you seem to be needing, taking and talking about everywhere you go; your photos, documents, music and videos too. Well with Dropbox you can automatically save all your information across 1 computer or across 100, across your iPhone or all of your Apple products or maybe you just need to access it on the web, well guess what it is there too! Dropbox makes it easy to share this data in one location across multiple platforms regardless if you are a professional consultant like me, a parent, a grandparent or a tradie working those long physical hours… With Dropbox you can be ensured that your documents can be accessed regardless of who you are and if you misplace your gadget or gizmo well fret not as your data is always safe and will never be lost (unless you delete it).

Quite the busy bee are we? Not a problem!
Dropbox works hard to make sure that all your files are the same no matter where you're working from. This means that you can start working on a computer at school or the office, and finish from your home computer. Never email yourself a file again!

Just download Dropbox to your phone or computer or just jump online and you can be flipping through those pictures or reviewing documents on the go! It’s great to know you can have the confidence to work from your own personal device.

What's that? You want to share your files?
Dropbox makes sharing so easy that you'll be amazed at the things you can do. Invite your friends, family and teammates to any folder in your Dropbox, and it'll be as if you saved that folder straight to their computers.

If you want, just send someone a link and…SHAZAAM they can have access to the file too.
This makes it perfect for projects, party photos, or even your music!

Security you ask?
Stress less kiddo! All your data can be restored in snap even if your computer decides to chuck a tanty and implode. Dropbox is like a time machine that lets you undo mistakes and even undelete files you accidentally trash.

There is a surprise for everyone!
Everyday someone around the world is relying on Dropbox in a unique way: designing buildings, composing music, documenting business papers, compiling homework or even writing the book they never get around too. There is even someone using it to store their photos while travelling Australia and I bet one of your teachers are using it too!

Dropbox simplifies your life.

Did I mention it is free? Start today with a free personal Dropbox with 2GB Storage!
To start being simple click here and make your life that EXTRA simpler!

1, 2, Skip A Few 99, 100!

It is not every day that that you blog a 100th blog unless it was my first one which has taken me 1 year, 7 months and 3 days or simply 581 days. On the bright side I have seen over 17,000 page views throughout this time which in itself tells me I am doing something right, even if it does take 581 days. So most importantly to my followers, to my fans and to my mates thank-you for each view and every comment but for the next 100 blogs how about we increase the comments.

With that said it has been almost 2months since I last ventured into the blogging world or maybe it was the last time I actually had something to vent about, something which was on my mind or on my heart. Regardless, I must confess that majority of my blogs are  done from my emotional outburst and things which make me turn! Little do most of you know that each blog may have some sense of direction or point which "you all think you know" but I guarantee... there is much more that what really meets the eye to these blogs with plenty of puns, anecdotes, connotations and loaded statements they all come down to some underlying plot in which I chose to express in a somewhat explanatory manner. So why haven’t I blogged for the last 2 months? Simple I have been too busy, to preoccupied to even have time to think about those things which make me tick, turn or simply curious. But on a side note, I have also been thinking about it for the last 2 months in fact I have been thinking about how can I top the last 99 and make this one be big and bold...
Who knows... and currently I am just writing what comes to my mind.

Route 99
"Infinite times infinite equals double infinite" - David Clarke
Is it just me or do we seem to live our lives of either an obvious routine or micro versions of it. I know every day for me is occupied with the constant same realities of train rides, working, eating, more train rides, more eating and winding down with of course my extracurricular activities outside of these parameters. When I am on the train, seeing the regulars every morning and thinking 'am I noticed?' and as I take my routine walk from the station to work, I identify that there is a lack of common decency let alone common sense among a collective group of people. You would think by now especially for the people who do it every day that they would devise up some sort of common practice when: crossing the street, standing to the left or walking on the right on the escalator, walking to the left down the street. Seeing the breakdown of other peoples routines which collide with your own, questions me to think: what they are up to and if their usual daily dos are exciting as my own. Regardless of the happenings around me - through my morning stroll down Collins Street, Melbourne I have a 10 minute gap to think, ponder and wander to myself about the day ahead, the people around me and my life. It is these moments where I seem to grow on epiphanies and either walk down memory lane or dare to dream. "Nothing great in the world has ever been accomplished without passion" - German Poet. The truth about this - is if we take away our daily do's and the tasks at hand than you are left with yourself and your heart. That constant thing that you think about and is pumping in your heat, will in some and most cases be your passion. It’s more so what you will do about it that creates the accomplishment.

Dinting An Impression
"They may forget what you said, but they will never forget how they made them feel" - Carl W.Buechner
One thing which seems to always startle me is understanding impact. I mean c'mon we would all like to think that when we meet people we leave an impression whether we know them for a day or have known them for like forever. It has always stomped and made me stop to think about all those people who I have cared about and still do... even if they don’t know it. Have in any sense have they stopped and given a thought about it? Now I am not saying I want to be made known as some local hero or a friendly neighbourhood Spiderman, but it would be at least nice to know, let alone think that people who you have poured a somewhat sense of care and love into has appreciated it and if they are now out of your inner circle, that they can recollect on the times that we have been able to share, times when I could care and advise. Meh... maybe I am selfish to think it, but even to secretly know that you have made a difference or are making a difference in someone’s life would be a booster! To know even if it is from your daily principals and general respects or mannerisms. On the contrary then again maybe I am making some sort of a difference...

Oh Happy Day, Happy Day
Sing it with me people! All together now!
So apparently, judging by my some of my work colleagues I am always happy and apparently too happy for a Monday morning... actually any morning for that fact. But sometimes it is said like a bad thing. Meh they are probably too tired... I like to think that I can make my day happy by building up the ones around you! I like to bounce the synergy between people with the intention to ignite some happiness, laughs and smiles to the people around.

Seven Hundred and Thirty

To think that things would always stay static and the thought of progression was hesitant...
It was nearly just a full moon ago that the unspoken was forgotten. The reoccurring memory of regret or frustration was gone. The irony is it was spent making moments and memories which should never be forgotten.

With that said the journey of enchantment seems evitable, never ending to be exact. Not to say there isn't anything to show.. its more so the fact of peculiar parameters or maybe just high standards.

Regardless I don't think it should be that difficult... am I missing something?

Missing the Found & Finding the Missed

Why is it that the world seems to spin madly on yet we don’t always seem to be on the cycle going round… If it is one thing I have noticed in life it is the human nature to strive off the society surrounding them. Put this human in a contextual environment with a variety of peers and few parameters to live by and you now have a human who will sit wishing and wanting everything to fall into place or least in sync with the rest of the world. Take a step out of this boxed world and actually live life without the focus on what is missing and the missing will find you. It’s when we focus of the things we are missing we become oblivious to the reality in front of us this whole time. When really we had found what we were looking for before we even started looking but we were too busy looking for something which had already been found.

On that note the world continues to spin madly on and some people seem to spin madly with it without stopping to think about themselves than thinking about fitting in with everyone else.

On a more personal note:

“I miss the small sentiment in the uncanny things and the simple stupid things which make everything else seem irrelevant. Unfortunately my world keeps spinning on but I’m not mad enough to admit I also need to take it for a spin but this time to think about my future and not my present. Because in time my future will be the present and I will think nothing of it! Well hopefully…”

Shuffling a Rebels Perfection

It shuffles me to know that individuals find it easier to fight their own insecurities of justifying themselves in denial of a selfless yet selfish life than to actually fix the issues in their life. Why search for something or more so question everything when you already know the answer or where it is. Yea I can fathom how things can be tough and we don’t always get along with all the folk in the world but isn’t that life? “Keep your friends close but keep your enemies closer” is this not true? Creating some superstitious judgement or assumption of the ones you once shadowed is this not merely judging yourself? If you create walls in your life to hide from the truth or to avoid the guilt trip, make sure you are ready to break down those walls yourself when you come tumbling down!! If you are searching for something more than what you had found - did you really find something in the beginning? True this may be, but why follow it in denial, in deception for so long? When you could either choose to cut loose from it all or (as it appeared) hop on the train and actually go to the destination? Placing the blame on others or using others for excuses to justify your own selfish treks is just sad… if you think playing some kind of political football match or a blame game will justify or morally dignify your attitudes and actions than obviously you don’t even understand why you are doing it. Take all these people and excuses out of your lives and what do you have? Nothing… or pure confusion of what to do, who to follow and no idea of your own self-identity.

If you seriously want to go your way that’s fine but I don’t see any truth or reason for you to make your way back when it was merely to prove a point or to experience the apparent joys of a destructive path. I think you’re on a path to find a perfection of your own self-identity which doesn’t exist.

“People throw away what they could have by insisting on perfection, which they cannot have, and looking for it where they will never find it” - Edith Schaeffer

“Man can certainly keep on lying... but he cannot make truth falsehood. He can certainly rebel... but he can accomplish nothing which abolishes the choice of God.” - Karl Barth

A Society of Generational Cultures

So I was casually catching up for coffee with a dear friend and one of the conversations we continually erupted was the controversial points regarding the differences between our generation and views on social conduct and living; in comparison to the emerging generations and their new culture towards attitudes and their own social conduct to life. Being of the later Gen Y and missing the introduction of Gen Z by a little gap I have become aware of mutual environments between the two as well as the complete opposite understandings to mannerisms, the community culture and socialism itself. It was barely 3years ago I left school with such high regard and opinion of what a stuffed up world we were living in. The amount of peer pressured parties and socially accepted underage ‘doing’s’ I thought it was as bad as it could get. But then within that year level we had the younger folk and the older which were still in the Gen Y bracket yet they had more flow or standing towards the Gen Z nature. This being they have grown up with a high sophisticated media and computer environment and are more Internet savvy and expert than their Gen Y forerunners. This is where I call the mutual playing field as the ladder Gen Y will have this environment embedded into them naturally depending on the status at home and social group. Basically this: “Gen Y kids are known as incredibly sophisticated, technology wise, immune to most traditional marketing and sales pitches...as they not only grew up with it all, they’ve seen it all and been exposed to it all since early childhood.”

Now I mentioned peer pressured parties and socially accepted underage ‘doing’s’ there was a mutual ground here too! I found that the younger of our peers were more easily let go when it came to drinking and… mind me “piss ups and hook ups”. Compare this to the new Gen Z and we can see the older ones of the group have taken this to the next level again. What I thought was bad was only the tip of the iceberg today. Parties are not just generalised as a place for underage alcohol consumption let alone underage sexual encounters but this is what they are known for! Then we have the society’s tolerance of pre-teen responsibility. This being there choice or opportunity to drink at 13, to start experimenting in the sex crazed world. I just can’t believe how from being in year 10 to now being a 3rd year Uni student has become such a mere reflection. The decisions and choices that I am or someone of my generation is confronted with everyday are the same of today’s 14 year olds in year 9. By the time they reach VCE they have made majority of their life changing decisions or experienced it all before it was intended. Now don’t even get me started with their attitude! I mean yes everyone has a different home life and different environments we live in but where did this proud, quick-nit and back chatting attitude come from. Yes I am talking about those ‘teenie-boppers’ we see pouncing around the shopping centres and their stuck up attitudes that they own the place and no authority can stop them even If they have a say! Basically they defy their parents, making their own parental decisions and essentially running amuck whenever they want.

I guess the question is what caused all this? We have seemed to jump from one level of peer pressure and escalated into pressured peers! What I mean is; with the aid of the information age the ability to be introduced to this new culture of society is found in seconds! The iPhone was released when I was finishing year 12, which meant the iPhone was enabling year 8’s with a whole new world plus pre introduction to what will dominate society’s communication. So with a new technical language, the ability to communicate in whole new way, with opportunities being made available within seconds; basically we have created a generation leap of decisions and responsibilities to a group who should not have to worry about these things.

The unfortunate thing is parents or even the younger parents still have this idea that their kids are living in a world like it was their day even if their day was 4 – 6 years ago. I think you need to rethink and be re-educated about why your teens/pre-teens are acting the way they do. We may not be cool anymore but we most defiantly are smarter! It’s only there snappy, emotional, controlling and arrogant attitudes you need to overcome…

This is just a few snippets of what is so much more…

2012 – The Year of Revitalise

“This is a new year. A new beginning. And things will change.” – Taylor Swift

It’s that time again to celebrate new beginnings, new horizons and resolutions. It’s a time to remember the year that proceeded and what is to come before us. I think 2012 will be the year of Revitalise. This will be a year where I will re-establish a new improved basis of my life’s priorities goals and dreams, setting not a revolution as such, but a renewed motivation and perspective to the things in my life. With this said there is one rant I would like to get off my chest!

That being - my frustration towards people’s inability to accept and live as themselves. Now in my tone implied I know we can all grow in this and I am not perfect! I am also not implying to take advantage of this statement and use it to suggest if you make mistakes that, that is who you are. What I am implying is that people seek for acceptance, substitutes and alternatives to avoid confronting who they are. Running around trying to gain acceptance of your peers by suggesting your new craze or knowledge of ones already vocation is merely a ploy to fill your need by trying to look better or top them at their own game, which only lowers there esteem, confidence or most likely their revised opinion of yourself. Obviously you can see that they are good at something or have an opportunity which is exciting or excelling and you want to feel that too… well guess what.. you can! However it will take a little taming of your lion within. If you stepped back for a moment and actually took a look at yourself not material wise or physically but through knowledge, talents and skills you might actually realise your continuous denial was really your answer all along. Stop trying to bring the ones around you down with you when you can actually start to exceed let alone succeed alongside them!

On another note the cake is a lie!
