Pyramid to Perfection

Hey fellow blogtopians, tonight I probs wont blog as much as I am so tried but it better then nothing!

Ok so I mentioned I would write about the Pyramid to Perfection – which is the model I use to explain to my Drum Students how to succeed in learning their task at hand and perfecting it. So here is the model itself. *Remember this is usually for drums but can be rehashed for whatever!  - this is a basic version

image

Basics: So in this level its where we must learn whatever our task is. We must comprehend what is being asked, or how to apply it. So say we were given a Math Equation to do. First we must fully understand the concept behind it, what it being asked and a background knowledge of the equation.

Learn: Once you have a full understanding of the task (equation), we then need to learn it. For drummers, this means to memorize the beat which is to be learnt. So we need to be able to do the equation (formula), beat or whatever without looking at it.

Emphasise: Now we are ready to take it up a notch! For drummers this would imply adding speed to the beat, revamping it with style and technique and customizing for your own. In terms of the example (equation) this would imply we use it to a set of given questions. So its where we explore it further.

Perfection: After learning the basics, memorizing the task and then emphasising it to the next level by now you should have it imbedded into your mind and have a 100% understanding of how to apply it or play it. Now this wont mean 100% perfect but it will be very solid in terms of correct.

So there you go that's the Pyramid to Success model (brief version).

Don't forget if you have suggestions or want something to blogged about please feel free to email or comment for one.

  1. Hey cools....It's not just PRACTICE THAT MAKES PERFECT....but...."PERFECT PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT"(unknown)....So in light of the words of Jesus' sermon on the mount..Matt 5:48..(you'll have to look it up....)He meant us to BEcome like our heavenly Father....and we only get one shot at that in this life...so guess when you gotta practice....NOW!....So Matt 5:3-11 ain't called the BE..attitudes for nothing!....Daddio.

  2. I'll never forget when I was young I saw a skit with a lady dressed as a baby, sitting at a piano and singing, practice makes perfect. It was very funny.

    2 Corinthians 13:11
Finally, brothers, good-by. Aim for perfection, listen to my appeal, be of one mind, live in peace. And the God of love and peace will be with you.

    Deuteronomy 32:4
He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he.

I understand the concept you are using for practical use, no one can ever be perfect. Jesus gave us guidelines to use to become perfect and more like Him and He is the perfecter of our lives.

    James 3:2

We all stumble in many ways. If anyone is never at fault in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to keep his whole body in check.

Next time you make a mistake remember that Jesus is the perfecter of faith and secondly pick your self up and try again
