Someone recently asked me “What
is my New Year resolution?” I answered with a motionless face and soon said
something to keep them happy when really I hadn’t even thought about it. The
thing I find tedious about New Year resolutions is the cliché attached to them.
These resolutions are always the same or quite similar. Let’s be honest, what
percentage of people actually abide by their new way of living.
Sadly, this year I only blogged
10 times which is a bit of a shame compared to 2011 where I did 59. However in
my defence, 2012 was my final year of Uni, which required the majority of my
attention let alone energy. Motivation was sucked dry into my final semesters.
No excuse, I know and if I was truly dedicated I could have pushed. One
interesting variable to my blogging has been me steaming, ranting and venting
off frustrations. Interestingly enough, 2012 wasn’t full of moments that
grinded my gears, which in a different perspective indicates that maybe the
lack of my blogging was a good thing.
I originally stated that 2012
would be a year of “Revitalise” which meant to renew something or to find new
energy. Well I guess in some sense this could be measured as a success as I was
able to prioritize my life to what I found was the most important to me, which
was at the time my work placement and finishing Uni. However, to say my life
was made into something better, this could be argued. Although the year definitely
had some awesome encounters, with new friendships, new ideas, new achievements
and I guess new aspects about me.
To sum up 2012 it was a year of
celebrations and discovery – finishing Uni, turning 21, getting a graduate offer
and accepting my new full time job to start my career. I discovered happiness in
the smallest things and spread it to the people around me, I made new networks
and of course I missed some things but I also made new decisions and
advancements into my journey of life. I guess in a whole word, it was a
success.
2013 will hopefully be even more
exciting, eventful and richer than 2012 as I begin a new chapter of my life –
my career. Until I start my career, as I mentioned before, I have a few things
I wish to embrace! Fishing of course and I will do this as much as possible,
but also I want to just embrace opportunities and really identify some things I
have been thinking about and really lock down what it is I want now, tomorrow
and for the rest of my life.
